Privacy Policy
This privacy policy explains what General Contractor Bangor gathers through this website, mostly the answers people give in our estimate quiz and contact form. We keep those answers in our customer relationship management system so we can reply, set up a visit to your house and write up a price for the work.
We call and text only with the consent you give by ticking the box on a form, and a reply of STOP ends the texts. Email [email protected] or use our contact page to see, correct or delete what we hold about you.
General Contractor Bangor wrote this policy so you know what becomes of the details you send us. It covers what this website gathers, why we keep it and which outside services can see it.
Who We Are
We are General Contractor Bangor, and we remodel, add onto and repair existing houses in Bangor and the 21 towns within 15 miles of it. People reach us through www.generalcontractorbangor.com, and every form on the site delivers its answers straight to our office.
Information We Collect
When you complete the estimate quiz or the contact form, we keep what you enter.
- Contact details: your name, your phone number and your email address.
- Project details: the town the house is in, the kind of work you want (an addition, a kitchen or bath, a renovation, basement finishing or a repair), roughly when the house was built, the size or scope you have in mind, whether you will live there during the work, when you would like to start, your budget range and any notes.
- Submission details: whether the consent box was ticked, which page held the form and when it was sent.
Notes from our phone calls and from the visit to your house go into the same file. If you hire us, the written price, the signed contract and each invoice are added to it.
Like any web host, ours keeps a brief technical log of each page visit. That log holds items such as your IP address and your browser type.
How We Use Your Information
We use what you share for three purposes only:
- answering your request and writing up a price once we have been through the house
- doing the work if you hire us, from the permit to the final walkthrough
- contacting you about your project by the methods you agreed to on the form
We never use your details to sell you something unrelated to your house. We do not sell, rent or trade them to data brokers or list sellers.
Where Your Information Goes
Three kinds of outside service handle your information, and each sees it only to do its job for us.
- Our CRM (customer relationship management system). Every form submission is stored in our CRM, along with a record of the calls, texts and emails between us. Our calls, texts and emails to you are sent from it.
- Our website host. Cloudflare serves this site to your browser and can see the technical log data that comes with each request. It also forwards email sent to our address on to our inbox.
- Maps. The town maps on our pages load their map tiles from OpenStreetMap, so opening one sends your IP address to that service.
We may have to disclose information when the law requires it, for example under a subpoena or a court order. We may also disclose it when that is needed to protect someone's safety or our own legal rights.
Referrals to Other Contractors
Sometimes a request falls outside what we do: a house beyond our 22 towns, a new house built from the ground up, or a roofing, siding or window job on its own. In those cases we may offer to put you in touch with another contractor or with a contractor matching service.
We pass your details along for that introduction only after you agree to it. Without that agreement, we never share them for a referral.
Phone Calls and Our AI Receptionist
Calls to our number may be answered first by an AI receptionist, which tells you near the start of the call that it is an AI. It takes down your contact information and what you tell it about your house and the work, then saves a summary of the call to your file in our CRM.
During the day the receptionist can pass your call to a person if you ask. Outside those hours it takes your details so we can call you back.
Text Messages and Phone Calls
Every lead form on this site carries a consent box that starts unchecked, and the form will not send until you check it. The consent language beside that box allows us to contact you about your project by email, SMS text or phone, automated technology included, and it says that consent is not required to make any purchase.
We text about your request and your project, from arranging the visit to the house to updates while the work runs. Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply.
- Text STOP at any time to end our texts, and one final text confirms the opt-out.
- Text HELP for help, or write to [email protected].
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Your mobile number is never given to third parties for their own marketing. Records of your text opt-in and consent are kept by us alone and never shared with third parties.
You can stop our calls and texts whenever you like. Reply STOP, or tell us on a call or by email.
Cookies and Analytics
This website sets no advertising cookies and uses no analytics or tracking tools. If that ever changed, we would first update this policy to name the tool and the cookies it uses.
Where the contact page shows a street address, its directions link opens Google Maps, and Google's privacy policy applies from there. Your browser settings let you block or clear cookies, and every page on this site works without them.
How Long We Keep Information
We keep request records while we respond and follow up about your project. Customer records may be kept longer where tax law or the building contract requires it.
How We Protect Your Information
Your information is held with the providers named above, and only the people who need it to serve you can reach it. No system connected to the internet is safe from every breach, and we cannot promise otherwise.
If a breach ever exposes your personal information, we will notify you as Maine's data breach notification law requires.
Your Rights and Requests
You can ask us to:
- show you the personal information we hold about you
- correct anything that is wrong or out of date
- delete your information, except where a signed contract or the law requires us to keep it
To make a request, email [email protected] or call the number on our contact page. We may ask you to confirm who you are before we act on it.
Children's Privacy
This site is meant for adults planning work on a house. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and we delete any that turns up.
Links to Other Websites
Our pages link to public sources such as town code offices, Maine's shoreland zoning and septic rules, the federal flood maps and the EPA's lead-safe renovation rule. Each of those sites has its own privacy policy, which this one does not cover.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may change this policy as our tools or the law change. The dated version shown on this page is the one that applies.
