These terms govern use of the General Contractor Bangor website, where people read about remodels, additions and repairs to existing houses in Bangor and 21 nearby towns and send us estimate requests. Any work we do is covered by its own written contract, and these terms do not change it.

Each cost figure on the site is a planning average, not a quote or an offer. We text only with your consent, a reply of STOP ends those texts, and Maine law governs these terms.

By using this website you accept these terms. Any work we do on your house is governed by its own signed contract, which nothing on this page changes.

Who May Use This Site

You must be at least 18 to use this website, and by using it you confirm that you are.

Acceptable Use

You are welcome to use this site to learn about remodeling or adding onto a house and to tell us about yours. Please do not enter false details or another person's contact information, and do not try to interfere with how the site runs.

Cost Figures and Estimates on This Site

Every remodeling price on this site is an average drawn from many projects: the kitchen ranges by scope and the per-bathroom figures. We publish them to help you plan a budget, and none of them is an offer or a quote for your house.

We publish no price for additions, whole-house renovations, basement finishing or structural repair, because those are priced from your house and your drawings. Town permit fees are quoted from each town's published schedule, can change without notice, and are set by the town.

A price becomes binding only in a written contract that you and we both sign, prepared after we have been through the house and gone over the plans.

Estimate Requests

An estimate request or a contact form is free to send and commits neither of us to anything. We may decline a job, such as a house outside our 22 towns, a new house built from the ground up, or work we do not take on.

Text Message Terms

These terms apply to our texts after you agree to receive them on one of our forms.

  • What you receive: texts about your estimate request and the project that follows it.
  • Frequency and cost: message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply. Questions about your plan go to your wireless carrier.
  • Opting out: reply STOP to any text. You get one text confirming it, and nothing more unless you opt back in.
  • Help: reply HELP, or write to [email protected].
  • Carriers: carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your phone number and your consent.

No Professional Advice

What this site says about old houses, framing, lead paint, septic systems, building codes and costs is general information. Use it to start planning, not as engineering, legal or lending advice, and not in place of a look at your own house and a check of your town's rules.

Permits, Historic Review and Shoreland Rules

Each town's Code Enforcement Officer decides whether a building permit is granted, and historic district, shoreland zoning or flood zone rules can add reviews of their own. When we apply for a permit for you, the decision still rests with the town, and we cannot promise approval.

Where a house is on a septic system, the system's design can limit how many bedrooms an addition may add. Homes built before 1978 may have lead paint, and federal lead-safe rules govern work that disturbs it.

We pass what we find on those points to you before the work is priced.

No Schedule Guarantee

Old houses hide things, and permits, what turns up behind a wall, deliveries and frozen ground all move a project's timing. Any timeline we give you is a plan, not a promised start or finish date.

Some pages point to outside sources such as town websites and state and federal agencies. Those organizations own their sites and answer for what they publish.

Limitation of Liability

As far as the law permits, General Contractor Bangor is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages that arise from using this website or relying on its general information. Work performed under a signed contract is outside this limitation and is governed by that contract.

Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms at any time, and the version on this page is the one in effect. If you keep using the site after a revision, you accept the revised terms.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by Maine law. Any dispute about this website belongs in a state or federal court in Maine.
